Ms Gillett-de Klerk holds the SECP (Social Entrepreneurship Certificate Programme) qualification from GIBS (Gordon Institute of Business Science) University of Pretoria. She also holds the B.Soc. Sc. (Social Work)(HONS) degree from UCT. At GIBS she was awarded the Busisiwe Vilakazi Change Maker Achiever Award. She graduated from GIBS on 12 March 2014.

 

Ms Gillett-de Klerk has more than 20 years of experience in the NGO sector, in academia and in private practice. The fields in which she has worked include the rehabilitation of criminals, medical and psychiatric social work, individual and family therapy, child abuse and prevention and also in the management of NGO’s. She has also addressed two summits on the homelessness problem in Johannesburg in 2011 and 2012.

 

Furthermore, Ms Gillett-de Klerk has been active in community affairs over more than 25 years. She has chaired residents/ civic associations both in Cape Town and in Johannesburg and formed the Forum of Residents Associations in Ferndale and Randburg.  She engages regularly with various departments of the City of Johannesburg especially with Region B where Randburg is located.

 

In 2013 while busy on the SECP programme, Ms Gillett-de Klerk conceived of the idea of JOSH, its creative approach to tackling the problem of homelessness in Johannesburg, its innovative funding model leading to its sustainability and developed the social enterprise that became JOSH.
